REDCap platform management and maintenance
A REDCap instance grows over time: more projects, more users, more data. Without regular maintenance it slows down, falls behind on versions and accumulates security risks. Depalop manages the technical side of your REDCap platform, on its own or alongside internal IT, so the research team can focus on the studies.
What the service includes
REDCap installation and configuration
We install REDCap on the institution's servers or in the cloud and configure web server, database, cron, email, authentication (LDAP, SSO or Shibboleth) and separate development, test and production environments.
Planned upgrades
We upgrade REDCap and its external modules following the official release cycle, first in test and then in production, with a rollback plan and documentation of every change. We also upgrade PHP, MySQL or MariaDB and the operating system when needed.
Performance tuning
If REDCap has become slow we analyse queries, database indexes, PHP and web server configuration, cron queues and the heaviest projects. We deliver a report of the causes and fix the most significant ones.
Backup, monitoring and security
Automatic backups with restore tests, availability and disk monitoring, server hardening, certificate management and periodic log review.
Support for administrators and users
A technical contact for questions, urgent requests and advanced Control Center configuration, with response times set in the contract.
Engagement models
- One-off check-up: analysis of the instance and a prioritised report.
- One-off intervention: installation, migration or upgrade.
- Maintenance contract: ongoing upgrades, monitoring and support for a fee.
FAQ
How often should REDCap be upgraded?
REDCap releases new versions frequently; for production we recommend following LTS versions and planning upgrades at regular intervals, always after testing.
Can you migrate REDCap to a new server or to the cloud?
Yes. We plan the migration to minimise downtime and verify data, files and configuration afterwards.
Do we need to give you full access to our servers?
No. We agree access levels and procedures with your IT, in line with the institution's policies.
